Day 1 and 2 - Chicago, IL, USA
I arrived in Chicago after a lengthy flight delay out of Denver. I have to say, I am very impressed with The L in Chicago - it was clean and timely going into the city from O’Hare, and I was fascinated by the elevated track. Far more impressive than Denver’s Light Rail.
After checking into my hostel, I went to Giordano’s for some authentic deep dish pizza. Delicious and All-American!
After a quick nap, I set off for the Adler Planetarium. It was closed when I arrived, but I wasn’t there for the astrology, rather the awesome view of the Chicago Skyline.
After visiting Soldier Field nearby (home of the Chicago Bears), I rented a bike from a kiosk and biked along the Lake Michigan shoreline while listening to some tunes. It was the most alive I have felt in a while 😎
I checked out Navy Pier at the end of my bike ride. Lots of cute shops and attractions here.
Once the sun went down, it was time to party! I visited Chicago’s LGBTQ neighborhood, Northalstead, but I like to call it what my Uber driver lovingly named it: Boyztown.
Roscoe’s Tavern hosted a drag performance night, where local drag queens danced and lip synced to songs on stage. The queens all slayed - the outfits and looks were fabulous!
I wish I had time to visit Northalstead during the day, but perhaps that’s an excursion for next time - I have a flight to catch! Next stop: Dublin, Ireland!
