Midway - One Month in Europe

Well, I’m about halfway done with this Europe trip! I feel like this month has flown by, but it also feels like I left Denver a long time ago.

Let’s run down some of my favorite things I’ve done so far

  • Visited 7 different countries (US, Ireland, UK, France, Switzerland, Italy and Vatican City)

  • Biked along the coast of Lake Michigan.

  • Visited several authentic Irish pubs, in Dublin and beyond.

  • Drank so much more beer and ate a lot more gelato than I’d care to admit.

  • Swapped out a lot of my clothes and figured out how to optimize backpack traveling

  • Marveled at art and architecture from several different time periods and in many forms. From contemporary pieces, to da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, to St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City.

  • Rode on many subway systems, high-speed trains, and double decker buses, and then ranted and raved about how the impressive the public transit in Europe is.

  • Snowboarded in the second most beautiful mountain range I’ve ever seen.

  • Got a nose piercing, against my better judgement.

  • Visited the sites of a 2000-year-old civilization whose monuments and buildings have stood the test of time.

  • Made some progress on becoming a better person, with emotional high points as well as some homesick moments.

  • Met some incredible people from all over the globe - from Perú to Armenia, India to Australia, South Korea to Norway, Berlin to Brazil, and LA to UK.

This has been an incredible journey thus far, and I’m excited for what the second half is going to bring! What’s next exactly? Here’s the roadmap for the foreseeable future.

  • Munich, Germany

  • Vienna, Austria

  • Budapest, Hungary

  • Prague, Czechia

  • Berlin, Germany

Oh yeah, I also extended my Europe trip until May 1. But, the adventures won’t stop there! After landing in Chicago, I have a quick turnaround to fly to New York to see my sister Macy’s graduation! I’m excited to party it up with the whole family in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.

Afterwards, the rest of my family will go back to Denver, but I have more to see! I’m planning on spending some time in some North American cities - perhaps Manhattan, Boston, Washington DC, Toronto, and New Orleans. After that, I’m going to see some good friend - Jordan in Dallas, and then Dan and Logan in Columbia, Missouri.

I’m trying not to think too much about what comes after that. Like my attitude of this trip, I think I’ll figure it out when I get there.

Here’s one of my favorite songs of all time, which inspired the title of this post.
